JOB SUMMARY
The Shiftpod Manager will be responsible for the inventory, maintenance, distribution and collection of Shiftpod and Kodiak assets.
This role will also be responsible for crew training, setting up and taking down of the domed and canvas tents.
This position will supervise the Shiftpod Crew and oversee cleaning and long term storage operations of all Shiftpod and Kodiak assets.
This is a temporary, full-time, Exempt role, based in Black Rock City, Nevada running from May 26 to October 12, 2024.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Tents (85%) Respond to calls for tent and kit orders, replacement parts, and power needs.
Deliver tents and AC units to the necessary departments/people.
Setting them up in requested locations and ensuring their functionality.
Train crew how to set up and maintain assets.
Maintain inventory and location of tents on playa so we can ensure all requests are met, can respond to calls for service during the event and collect Tent crew assets in a timely manner post event.
Collect, track and clean the tents and AC units post event.
Working at the Black Rock Station work ranch, set up tents and ACs to assess broken parts and ensure cleanliness and readiness for the following year’s event.
Create and monitor Crew work schedules in collaboration with BRC Housing Manager.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (15%) Perform other duties as assigned.
Attend daily Morning Meetings.
Be familiar and act in accordance with Burning Man’s staff policies.
Monitor personal well-being, be aware of work expectations, and proactively address any concerns with the manager.
Establish and oversee the maintenance of a clean and safe worksite.
Provide written feedback describing the successes of the season and areas in need of improvement.
Perform various other duties as assigned.

LEARNING AND TEACHING Documentation - Drives the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to assigned duties.
Teaching – Takes a leadership role in the acculturation and training of staff.
Teaches live or e-learning classes, as requested.
Promotes a culture of teaching and learning throughout the community.
Mentoring - Mentors subordinates in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and experience that will allow them to advance in the organization.
Aids, encourages and inspires their team.
Training development - Collaborates with the education team to develop training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.
Learning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise, working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and processes.
Participates in conferences, forums, and networking events, where appropriate.
Speaking – Represents Burning Man as a subject matter expert and culture-bearer, as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Communication Skills: Clearly and concisely communicates verbally and through written correspondence.
Tailors' communication to receiving party with appropriate professionalism.
Experienced and comfortable with using 2 way radios.
Is aware of the need for and able to uphold and practice discretion.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Google products (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Microsoft Word and Excel.
Organization: Works well in close quarters with others; instills and applies order and cleanliness to the work environment and pays careful attention to detail in handling important information.
Practiced in taking detailed and accurate notes and relaying time-sensitive information.
Resilience: Accepting feedback and remaining calm and focused under pressure.
Time Management Skills: Effectively manages own time.
Honest and ethical with a dedication to the Burning Man principles and behavioral standards Responsible, fulfills obligations.
Open to change and considerable variety in daily tasks.

Experience working on projects in remote wilderness and/or desert environment.
Previous experience with Burning Man and /or familiarity with its operations and /or culture.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
COMPENSATION: Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location.
The anticipated pay rate for this position is $1,000 to $1,100 per week.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Off-playa: This position requires periods of heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.
This position will be physically demanding, and requires individuals with good physical health, and endurance.
Work will include the need to find and meet with department representatives who may not be in the vicinity therefore this could include walking or using some form of transportation.
Much of the work will be in outside weather conditions and will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles as well as possible extremes in temperature.
On-playa: This position requires periods of heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.
This position will be physically demanding, and requires individuals with good physical health, and endurance.
Work will include the need to find and meet with department representatives who may not be in the vicinity therefore this could include walking or using some form of transportation.
