JOB SUMMARY The Housing Dispatch Lead is responsible for collecting and disseminating information for all maintenance and trailer servicing requests.
This role will supervise Housing Dispatchers while providing efficient tracking, monitoring, and dispatching of Housing services.
This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt role, based in Gerlach, NV running from June to October, 2024.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Communication & Collaboration (50%) Maintain a radio presence; collect, track, and efficiently dispatch incoming information and requests to the Housing team, liaising with other departments and vendors as necessary.
Communicate with Managers and residents to help facilitate and schedule the movement of Staff Housing.
Maintain regular communication with residents regarding timelines for the transportation of housing.
Collaborate with the BRC Housing Manager and Mobile Maintenance team to develop troubleshooting guides to aid the dispatch team in adequately evaluating and directing incoming calls.
Monitor the progress of service calls; coordinate with the Mobile Maintenance team to inform residents of estimated repair time.
Coordinating radio traffic with service vendors, ensuring that services are delivered with high quality and reliability.
Documentation & Tracking (40%) Document the status and completion of each maintenance and repair task in daily dispatch logs; work with Mobile Maintenance Manager to capture costs and labor details.
Distribute maps, signage, and route plans to staff and the staff of any vendors to facilitate the fulfillment of service requests.
Create and maintain daily dispatch logs to track all services provided.
Train, supervise, and support the Housing Dispatcher(s) to fulfill the daily tasks of dispatch.
Maintain scheduled office hours to provide in-person support for residents seeking assistance.
Deliver daily reports and documentation of completed work.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (10%) Attend and support crew attendance at daily Morning Meetings Collection and submission of dispatch staff working hours for bi-weekly payroll.
Be familiar and act in accordance with Burning Man’s staff policies.
Monitor personal well-being, be aware of work expectations, and proactively address any concerns with the manager.
Establish and oversee the maintenance of a clean and safe worksite.
Provide written feedback describing the successes of the season and areas in need of improvement.
Perform various other duties assigned.
LEARNING AND TEACHING Documentation - Assists in the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned duties.
Knowledge sharing – Helps acculturate and educate junior staff in Burning Man culture and business processes.
Training development - Collaborates with the education team to develop training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.
Learning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise, working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Clearly and concisely communicates verbally and through written correspondence.
Tailors communication with receiving party with appropriate professionalism.
Experienced and comfortable with using 2-way radios.
Working knowledge of Google products (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Microsoft Word and Excel.
Works well in close quarters with others; instills and applies order and cleanliness to the work environment and pays careful attention to detail in information handling.
Practiced in taking detailed and accurate notes and relaying time-sensitive information Able to accept feedback and remain calm and focused under pressure.
Effectively manages own time and the team's efforts as a whole.
Upholds and practices discretion.
Honest and ethical with a dedication to the Burning Man principles and behavioral standards.
Responsible, fulfills obligations.
Open to change and to considerable variety in daily tasks.
Maintains a respectful and polite demeanor, providing services with care, and offering thoughtful acknowledgment and accommodation of requests.
Strongly analyzes and creatively approaches new thinking on old work.
Able to adjust schedule seasonally to work at the Burning Man event held in Nevada.
PREFERRED Working knowledge of database entry.
Experience working on projects in remote wilderness and desert environments.
Previous experience with Burning Man and familiarity with its operations and culture.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Must have a valid state-issued Driver’s License and a good driving record.
COMPENSATION: Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location.
The anticipated pay rate for this position is $15.
00to $17.
00 per hour.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Off-playa: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.
On-playa: Work is primarily sedentary but will also include the need to find and meet with department representatives who may not be in the vicinity therefore this could include walking or using some form of transportation.
Some of the work will be in outside weather conditions and will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles as well as possible extremes in temperature.
