Overview: We have 6 pay increments on our non-clinical pay scales to compensate staff for years of relevant experience.

The work schedule is regular business hours Monday-Friday: 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Under the direction of the director of the Childcare Center, the Toddler Teacher will be responsible for facilitating the day to day operations of the Toddler Program.
The Toddler Teacher will monitor and ensure safety and program guidelines in their classroom, provide a safe, happy, and positive environment for all children, plan and implement all activities appropriate for children ages 18-36 months, complete DRDP assessments as needed, and communicate with parents daily.

Qualifications: Required Education: 12 postsecondary semester units in early childhood education from an accredited college, or willing to obtain with a time frame of one class per semester or 12 units within 2 years.
Units specified shall include courses covering: Child growth and development, Child, family and community, and Program/curriculum, plus.
3 units from above coursework shall be specific to the instruction of infants.
Six months of work experience in a licensed Child Care Center or similar program.
Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree or higher in ECE/CD or Child/Human Development.
3 semester units of supervised field experience in ECE setting.
24 units of ECE/CD including core courses + 16 GE units.
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic and socio-economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, children, and families Required Licensing & Certificates: Current California driver’s license and Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification Preferred Experience: Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing or Master Teacher/Site Supervisor Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Other Requirements: TB Clearance, MMR, Tdap, and Flu immunizations or waiver verification, DOJ and FBI Fingerprint Clearance, 8 hours of Preventative Health and Safety Training within 3 months of hire Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Title 22 Regulations, planning and implementing curriculum for children ages 18-36 months, current principles and practices of early childhood education in a play-based, family centered program, current classroom supervision requirements for staff and volunteers, family inclusion and education, completing observations and assessments related to the DRDP, toddler environmental standards related to the ITERS/ECERS, and basic computer skills.
Have the ability to plan, organize and facilitate overall daily routine for children ages 18-36 months, exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment in dealing with volunteers, children, and parents, promote the program’s vision, mission and goals, make effective decisions and take initiative to take independent action when needed, work collaboratively with staff and Director attending weekly staff meetings, cooperate, respect and communicate effectively with children, families and volunteers from a variety of cultural backgrounds, complete observations and assessments by required deadlines, check email daily, communicate daily with families regarding concerns and or highlights regarding their child, communicate with Director in a timely manner about sick leave and/or vacation requests, supervise aides and volunteers and provide feedback as needed, and provide developmentally appropriate discipline and/or redirection measures for children as needed, change diapers following set procedures for best health and safety practices, continue with ongoing training as needed for professional growth, and become certified in CLASS.
